Meininger Hotels

MEININGER Hotels is a unique hotel concept. One that combines the service and comfort of an international hotel chain with hostel facilities, to appeal to travelers on every budget and from every walk of life. With 22 hotels across 14 European destinations, this brand is the ultimate hotel offering for city breaks, business trips, backpackers, family holidays or school trips.

The MEININGER Hotel Group opened its first hotel in 1999, in the Meininger Strasse neighbourhood of Berlin. By the year 2010, just a decade on, seven more hotels were opened in other parts of Germany, Austria and the UK. With further expansion into the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Italy years later. Today, the MEININGER brand is recognised across the continent for its approach to design, which is always tailored to each hotel’s location to give the building its individual personality.

Working closely with Clare Gates, the Group Human Resource Director at MEININGER, and other key members, we have secured C-Level talent within the company at each stage of growth and have built, what we consider a special rapport and relationship with the MEININGER team for more than 2 years.

Challenge:

Our task was to identify and recruit a Chief Commercial Officer to be based in London. This executive-level role would require a visionary, someone able to lead commercial strategies and contribute to the development of the organisation as a whole.

The ideal candidate would be expected to live and breathe the MEININGER brand personality and be able to identify commercially attractive business opportunities through understanding trends, the market, and the target audience.

Solution:

Discreet research led mapping, identification and approach search assignment across the entire European region culminating in the presentation of a qualified shortlist of motivated, capable and interested talented executives. Our input extended to attending all interviews throughout the selection process providing additional support and advice. This is something that Clare and the team found to be a huge benefit.

“The team at Quantum probably understand our brand offering better than we do – they get our business. They always work tirelessly to get it right, and we would not work with anyone else.” – Clare Gates, Group Human Resource Director

Successes:

The Chief Commercial Officer was hired within the agreed project plan timescale. The successful candidate has been a superb fit for the company and has made an immediate contribution. We are delighted to continue our strong business relationship with the MEININGER brand as more hotels open in the future.

As their brand motto states, “Everything is possible at a MEININGER!”
